MORANG: In the fiscal year (2023/24), Koshi Province recorded 77 deaths due to natural disasters.
Floods accounted for the highest number of casualties, with 22 fatalities and 24 injuries, as reported by Nepal Police Spokesperson Bhim Bahadur Dahal.
These flood-related incidents occurred across 117 locations in the province.
Additionally, 20 individuals lost their lives and 134 were injured in fire-related incidents across 1,731 sites.
There were also 13 fatalities and 57 injuries from wild animal attacks, along with another 13 deaths and 36 injuries caused by lightning strikes. Landslides resulted in nine deaths and 20 injuries.
Furthermore, natural disasters over the past year led to the loss of 7,908 cattle in the province.
