KATHMANDU: Chairperson of the CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli said that there is a need for extensive discussion, minimal understanding, and cooperation between the supporters of the constitution and democratic forces, as the country’s democracy is in crisis.
He said so while addressing the second central committee meeting of CPN (UML) held on Saturday.
He said, “It is a situation where the constitution is compromised. The elected government has been replaced by an unelected government outside of the constitution. Society is still plagued by chaos and threats. As national unity weakens, the risk of external manipulation increases.”
He said that since the dissolution of the House of Representatives was unconstitutional, its restoration is legally necessary, appropriate, and inevitable.
Saying that a new challenge has been added to the welfare of the nation, He said, “There is a narration that is being spread that no progress has been made in the country. There is disappointment and confusion among the youth. There is a state of confusion and ambivalence in society. This needs to be addressed properly. This requires continuous dialogue, a minimum understanding, and in some cases, cooperation between supporters of the constitution and democratic forces.”
“The restoration of HoR at the time of political crisis, all sides’ government, intensive discussion, need for an amendment of the constitution as per need, and then ultimately, election is the ultimate safest, harmless, and reliable way,” said Chair Oli.
