EV charging station comes into operation in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank Limited has brought charging station for electric vehicles (EVs) into operation on the occasion of World Environment Day. The charging station has been set up at its corporate office in Kamaladi.

Board of Director of the Bank Krishna Prasad Sharma, the bank’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Suman Pokharel and the Chief Executive Officer of Gadi Charge Pvt. Ltd. Presha Shrestha jointly inaugurated the charging station at a special programme organised on Thursday.

The CC2 signal gun charging station installed by the bank in collaboration with Gadi Charge Pvt. Ltd. has a capacity of 40 kilowatts, according to a press statement of the Bank. Arrangements have been made for customers and bank employees who come to the bank for services to charge their EV vehicles at the charging station, said the bank.

With the increase in the use of electric vehicles in recent times, the bank has brought the charging station into operation targeting the vehicles of customers who come to the bank. At the event, Board of Director of the Bank Sharma said that the bank has established this charging station as an initiative to promote environmentally friendly EV vehicles, keeping in mind the convenience of its customers. He also said that the bank is adopting environmentally friendly measures along with its business expansion. Deputy CEO of the bank Pokharel said that Global IME Bank is committed to environmental protection and being a responsible bank.

He said that the bank is planting 18,000 saplings on the occasion of its 18th anniversary and World Environment Day, and that the bank is working to protect the environment and reduce the impact of climate change by bringing environmentally friendly products. He expressed confidence that other banks and financial institutions will also emulate the EV charging station operated by Global IME Bank.
