HoR Election: 6% voters cast votes by 10 am

KATHMANDU: Voting has commenced in all polling centers across the country for the election of the members of the House of Representatives (HoR).

By 10 am, 1,065,120 voters have cast their votes across the country, which amounts to six percent of the total number of voters, according to the Election Commission (EC).

Started at 7 am, the voting will continue till 5 pm, and voters who enter the polling stations by the fixed time, 5 pm, will be allowed to vote.

Under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral system, a total of 3,406 candidates (3017 men and 388 women and one other) from 65 political parties with 61 election symbols are competing for 165 seats of the HoR.

Under the proportional electoral system, 3135 candidates (1363 men and 1772 women) are competing for 110 seats. The HoR is a 175-member body.
