HoR meeting: Committee report on Citizenship Bill presented

KATHMANDU: A report of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee regarding the Nepal Citizenship (second amendment) Bill has been presented in the House of Representatives (HoR).

Committee President Ramhari Khatiwada presented the Bill before the lower house session today. Introducing the document, he said the Committee held comprehensive discussions on the Bill before producing the report. The discussions were majorly focused on how to ensure the citizenship to all Nepali citizens.

The Bill was finalised on behalf of the Committee after holding discussions with the stakeholders concerned, he added.

The Committee has proposed the provision of issuing the citizenship under the fully mother’s name, adding that the provision should not be the concern of all, adding that ‘mother and the motherland deserve love and recognition’.

He expressed his hope that the HoR will soon endorse the Bill.
