KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Population has released a statement advising people to avoid consuming wild mushrooms.
The National Health Education, Information, and Communication Center, a division under the Ministry of Health, issued a notice stressing this precaution.
This advisory comes in response to a concerning increase in deaths linked to the ingestion of wild mushrooms in recent years.
The Center has also cautioned against handling wild mushrooms directly due to their potential toxicity.
With the ongoing rainy season fostering the growth of wild mushrooms, there is a heightened health risk associated with their consumption.
It has been emphasized that consuming these mushrooms can result in severe illness and, in some cases, even fatalities.
