A A+ A-

KATHMANDU: National Assembly members have drawn attention of the government on various contemporary issues including air safety and visit visa.

In today’s NA meeting, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya stressed that the government should be serious for technical and policy-level improvement in aviation sector.

Expressing condolences towards the plane crash in India on Thursday, he pointed out the need of introducing a plan to lessen air accidents in Nepal and implement it.

“A total of 108 aircrafts met with an accident in Nepal so far. Total 959 people lost their lives in such incidents. The European Union has imposed a ban on all Nepalese Airlines preventing them from operating in European airspace since 2013 due to our technical, policy-level and geo-political weaknesses. I urge the government to resolve all problems of aviation sector”, he opined.

Similarly, Ghan Shyam Rijal argued that filing a case of cybercrime against a journalist Dil Bhusahn Pathak for writing news was against constitution and press freedom.

He also objected to the move of Kathmandu District Court of issuing an order to Nepal Khabar.Com and Bizmandu.Com to remove the news related to journalist Pathak and not to write and disseminate news about the issue.

Likewise, Ganga Kumari Belbase demanded formation of a high-level probe committee to study about visit visa scandal, such committee was necessary to end policy-level corruption.

Belbase stressed the need of investigation into visit visa scandal as the House of Representatives business has been obstructed for the past few days over the issue.
