KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML are moving forward with forming a government through a finalized power-sharing agreement, outlining the distribution of ministries.
Under this agreement, the Nepali Congress will manage nine ministries while the UML will handle eight.
The UML is set to take charge of the Finance, Physical Planning, Communication, Education, Industry, General Administration, and Land Reform ministries.
Conversely, the Nepali Congress will oversee the Home, Defence, Energy, Health, Urban Development, Tourism, Law, Agriculture, and Forests ministries.
Both parties are currently discussing the specific assignments for their ministers. Reports indicate that UML plans to appoint Vice Chairman Bishnu Paudel as Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress is preparing to appoint its Deputy Prime Minister and designate ministers under the leadership of Prakash Man Singh, with Ramesh Lekhak, the Chief Whip, being considered for the Home Ministry.
According to Article 76 (2) of the constitution, UML Chairman KP Oli is set to be sworn in on Monday morning.
The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 11 AM tomorrow, after which Oli intends to expand the cabinet promptly.
