KATHMANDU: The Central Executive Committee of Nepali Congress (NC) has given its approval to the pact forged between NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, with the objective of reshaping current power dynamics and establishing a fresh political framework.

According to NC spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat, the endorsement was granted during a session convened at President Deuba’s residence on Wednesday morning.

“The meeting, presided over by President Deuba, formally endorsed the understanding reached between our party leader and CPN-UML Chairman Oli,” Mahat confirmed.

He further revealed that the gathering also called for Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to step down, paving the way for the agreement’s implementation.

“The Prime Minister has been urged to facilitate a smooth transition,” he added.

Insiders familiar with the accord, finalized late Monday night between Deuba and Oli, outlined pivotal clauses including a change in leadership from Dahal’s administration to a new government and revisions to current policies.

Under the terms, CPN-UML Chairman Oli will initially assume leadership, succeeded by President Deuba, culminating in forthcoming elections.
