KATHMANDU: Nepal defeated Bhutan by 298 runs to enter semi semi-final of the ACC Men’s U16 East Zone Cup 2025 at Selangor Turf Club, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday.
Batting first, Nepal scored 358 runs in the stipulated 50 overs, losing 5 wickets with Raunak Srivastav’s century and Joy Thapa and Shiwansh Bajgain’s half-centuries.
Srivastav scored 168 runs, Thapa scored 61 runs, and Bajgain scored 54 runs.
Sachin Bhatta, Prashiddha Jaishi and Parimarjan Yadav scored 8, 7 and 2 runs respectively.
Following a huge target of 359 runs, Bhutan only managed 60 runs before being all out in 32.4 overs.
Bhutan’s Tshezang Dawa and Ugyen Kelzang Chophel scored 14 and 10 runs respectively, but other batsmen failed to score runs in double digits.
Nepali bowler Bipin Prasad Sharma took 4 wickets alone. Similarly, Suyog Bhattarai and Sachin Bhatta took two wickets each.
With the win over Bhutan, Nepal entered in Semifinal of the tournament being Group A’s winner. Nepal will face Malaysia in the Semifinal on Thursday.
