KATHMANDU: The new ministers of the interim government will be sworn in today. Prime Minister Sushila Karki has expanded the cabinet to three members.
Kulman Ghising, former executive director of the Nepal Electricity Authority, has been appointed as the Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation. Om Prakash Aryal has been appointed as the Minister of Home Affairs and Law, and Rameshwor Khanal has been appointed as the Minister of Finance.
Secretariat of the President Ramchandra Poudel said that all newly appointed ministers will be sworn in at the President’s Office at 11:30 AM on Monday.
Massive protests were held across the country, including in the Kathmandu Valley, on September 8 and 9. After the protests turned violent, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned from his post.
Following his resignation, President Ramchandra Paudel appointed former Chief Justice Karki as the Prime Minister of the interim government last Friday.
