KATHMANDU: Executive Director of National Tea and Coffee Development Board, Dr Bishnu Prasad Bhattarai, has said that trademark logo of Nepali tea has already been registered in two countries across the world.
The logo of Nepali tea has been registered in the USA and India after 197 years of tea production in Nepal, he shared.
“Though the logo of Nepali tea has been registered in India and USA, hardcopy of the agreement is yet to be received,” he said.
During the first quarterly progress review programme of the National Tea and Coffee Development Board, he urged the tea farmers to be confident as the logo has already been registered.
Bhattarai viewed that 50 per cent grant would be provided to farmers farming tea in over 50 ropani of land.
Urging the farmers prepare as the demand of tea would be increased in coming days after Nepali tea started being exported with logo in global market, he said that there is high demand of Nepali coffee as compared to tea in global market.
Nepal produces six metric tonnes of coffee every year in Nepal against the demand of 19 metric tonnes.
