National cricketer Bhandari undergoes successful surgery

KATHMANDU: National cricketer Lalit Singh Bhandari has undergone surgery after he suffered injuries to his leg and hand in a road accident. He has been admitted to Grande International Hospital in Kathmandu. 

A team led by Dr Chakra Raj Pandey carried out the surgery on Bhandari. His health is said to be normal. He needs to stay at the hospital for some days and it takes long time for him to return to the cricket field, said doctors involved in his treatment. 

Bhandari, who was injured seriously in the motorcycle accident on Sunday night, was referred to the hospital by Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur. He suffered injuries to his left leg and right hand in the accident. The incident took place when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a mini-truck. He was headed to Mahendranagar from Dhangadhi.
 He received primary treatment at a Shuklaphanta clinic at Jhalari before being taken to Dhangadhi for further treatment. The left-arm fast bowler had been playing for Nepal Police Club. 
He debuted for the national team in a match under the ICC World Cricket League Championship, 2017 against the UAE. He also played for Nepal in a one-day match against Netherlands in 2018.
