KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has chosen not to resign immediately despite losing support from the CPN-UML.

He announced during a meeting with party leaders at his residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday that he intends to face a vote of confidence rather than stepping down.

Maoist Center Secretary Devendra Paudel affirmed the Prime Minister’s determination to remain in office, strategize, engage Parliament, and seek a vote of confidence.

According to constitutional provisions, PM Dahal has up to 30 days to secure this vote.

Earlier that Tuesday, CPN UML Chairman KP Oli had urged him to resign and facilitate the transition, while on Monday evening, leaders from the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML had agreed to form a coalition government.
