PM Karki recommends five new ministers to join Cabinet

KATHMANDU : Prime Minister Sushila Karki has expanded her ministerial cabinet for the second time.

She has recommended five additional ministers to President Ramchandra Paudel on Sunday.

According to the President’s Secretariat, PM Karki has been recommended Former Supreme Court Justice Anil Kumar Sinha to take charge of two key portfolios-Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and Industry, Commerce and Supplies, along with Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation.

Noted social entrepreneur Mahabir Pun, chairman of the National Innovation Center, has been recommended for Minister of Education, Science and Technology.

Dr Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra, who recently resigned as Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population, has been recommended to head the same ministry.

Similarly, Madan Pariyar has been recommended as Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

Jagdish Kharel has been recommended as the Minister of Communications and Information Technology. Kharel has been in journalism for more than two and a half decades and was the news chief at Image Television.

The formal oath of office for all five nominees is expected to take place at the President’s Office on Monday.
