The Election Commission has announced a crucial window for candidates listed under the proportional representation system for the upcoming House of Representatives election. Those whose names are currently on the closed lists, submitted by political parties on December 28 and 29, 2025 (Poush 13 and 14, 2082, respectively), have the opportunity to withdraw their candidacy.

This withdrawal period is set for tomorrow, January 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Candidates wishing to remove their names must submit an application using the specific format provided by the Election Commission.

In cases where a candidate is unable to be physically present, an authorized representative can submit the withdrawal application on their behalf. This announcement was made today via a statement issued by Krishna Bahadur Raut, the Secretary and Election Officer of the Election Commission. The House of Representatives election is scheduled for February 21, 2026 (Fagun 21, 2082).
