KATHMANDU: Six lawmakers have registered 15 amendment proposals on the Bill to Amend and Repeal Certain Nepal Laws Related to Economic Matters, 2083. The bill and the proposed amendments will now undergo clause-wise discussion in the House of Representatives Finance Committee.
Among the key proposals, lawmaker Buddhi Prasad Pant has sought a provision to ensure that transport vehicles that have completed all legal procedures are allowed to reach their destinations without obstruction.

Lawmakers Renuka Kaucha and Basana Thapa have proposed that the government must publish any price-related standards in the Nepal Gazette, collect public feedback for at least 30 days, and seek the opinion of the relevant parliamentary committee before implementation.

The bill also proposes repealing five Acts, including the Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control) Act, 2052, and one regulation.
It further provides that ongoing revenue-related investigations currently with the Revenue Investigation Department will be transferred to the Inland Revenue Department, Customs Department, or designated foreign exchange investigation authorities, depending on the nature of the case.

Clause 5 of the proposed bill contains provisions related to repeal and saving. Under this clause, the government has proposed repealing the Provincial Development Plans (Implementation) Act, 2013; the Act to Increase the Circulation of Nepali Currency, 2014; the Income Ticket Duty Act, 2019; the Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control) Act, 2052; and the Act Relating to Institutions Carrying Out Financial Intermediation, 2055. In addition, the bill also seeks to repeal the Revenue Leakage (Investigation and Control) Regulations, 2079. The House of Representatives had earlier sent the bill to the Finance Committee for detailed discussion.
