KATHMANDU: A total of 157 people from Lalitpur remain missing following the flood in the Bhotekoshi River on Aug. 26. Search operations for the missing individuals are currently underway.
Lalitpur Chief District Officer Narahari Ghimire stated that nine people have been located so far, including three men, two women, and four children. Authorities are continuing to search for 115 men, 39 women, and three boys.
Among those missing, 99 individuals were residents of Lalitpur originally from other districts, comprising 81 men, 17 women, and one boy. Additionally, 41 foreign nationals residing in Lalitpur are among the missing. This group includes 13 citizens from Ukraine, 10 from Australia, five each from the United States and India, four from China, three from Korea, and one from the United Kingdom.
Of the 24 people injured in the flood, 22 have been discharged after receiving treatment. Ghimire reported that one man is currently receiving treatment at B&B Hospital in Gwarko, while one girl is being treated at the Birendra Military Hospital in Chhauni. The bodies of two individuals from Patan Sundhara, a man and a woman, have been handed over to their respective families.
