KATHMANDU: A total of 233,662 cooking gas cylinders have been sold in the Kathmandu Valley over the past five days.

Following the obstruction of the Prithvi Highway due to a landslide at the Krishnabhir section, cylinders were refilled at industries in the Tarai region and transported to Kathmandu via alternative routes for sale, says the Nepal Oil Corporation.

The number of LPG cylinders brought to Kathmandu and sold was 48,109 on Monday, 46,218 on Tuesday, 53,469 on Wednesday, 45,230 on Thursday, and 40,636 on Friday.

After the main highway was blocked, the NOC arranged refilling at plants in Bara, Parsa, Makwanpur, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, Dhanusha, and Mahottari, and then transported to Kathmandu via alternative routes.

The NOC has stated that gas cylinders will continue to be brought to Kathmandu and sold via alternative routes until the Prithvi Highway resumes regular operation.
