KATHMANDU: A total of 26 temporary shelters and relief distribution centers have been set up in various parts of Rasuwa and Nuwakot for people affected by the Bhotekoshi River floods, with coordination between the federal and local governments.

On Sunday alone, 3,454 people received temporary shelter and relief from the centers. In Nuwakot, 2,274 people were accommodated at 16 shelters, while 1,180 affected people were sheltered at 10 temporary facilities in Rasuwa.

In Nuwakot, affected residents from Vidur, Battar, Devighat, Betravati, Trishuli Bazaar, Tupche and Simchaur, among other areas, have been accommodated in schools, health posts, covered halls, safe houses, ward offices and other secure locations.

Medical teams have been deployed at the Safe House in Vidur-2, Devighat Ayurvedic and Alternative Medical Center, Mahadev Secondary School in Belkotgadhi-7 and Shulakshana Secondary School in Vidur-9 to treat people rescued with injuries.

10 shelters operating in Rasuwa

Ten shelters are operating in various locations of Uttargaya, Aamachhodingmo and Gosainkunda rural municipalities in Rasuwa. Affected residents have been moved to safer locations in Dadagaun, Haku, Pangling, Gre, Thuman, Dalphedi, Khaidi, Bridim, Lingling and Syafrubesi, among other areas.

Due to the difficult terrain, relief supplies have largely been delivered to affected areas by helicopter. According to the administration, there are currently no affected locations that have not received relief supplies.

Medical teams from Rasuwa District Hospital, Bir Hospital and the provincial hospital, along with health personnel from the Nepal Army and Armed Police Force, have been deployed in affected areas.

Local authorities and security agencies are maintaining high alert to prevent further damage, relocate affected residents to safer areas and ensure the timely delivery of essential relief supplies and medicines.
