KATHMANDU: Authorities have moved to address the cooking gas shortage in Kathmandu by bringing in 50,000 cylinders to ensure steady supply.
Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Deepak Kumar Sah, held discussions with gas industry entrepreneurs and relevant stakeholders on Friday to resolve the issue.
According to the ministry, Kathmandu consumes approximately 40,000 cylinders of gas daily. To ease the current supply constraints, gas entrepreneurs have committed to supplying 50,000 cylinders immediately.
The ministry stated that the supply disruption was caused by the road blockage following a landslide at Krishnabhir on Aug. 30, which prevented gas bullets from reaching Kathmandu. During the meeting, officials and stakeholders discussed necessary coordination and alternative arrangements to stabilize the supply chain.
