JANAKPURDHAM: The Madhesh Province government expanded and constructed 591.18 kilometers of roads across all eight districts of the province in the last fiscal year 2025/26.
The government has prioritized building road infrastructure to connect rural settlements, market areas, and main road networks in the province.
Rohit Joshi, the information officer of the Provincial Government’s Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, said that through the Infrastructure Development Office, a total of 591.18 km of road were constructed and expanded across the province last fiscal year. The roads built include RCC paved, gravelled, and black-topped roads.
According to him, during that period, 227.06 km of RCC paved roads were built in various districts of the province.
Similarly, 336.68 km of roads were graveled, and 27.44 km of dust roads were constructed. Along with road construction, the government has also focused on developing necessary infrastructure on both sides of the roads.
During that period, 61.10 km of concrete drains were constructed, information officer Joshi said.
The provincial government has accelerated the construction of small and medium-sized bridges along with road infrastructure.
According to the ministry, in the past fiscal year, 138 culverts, 184 Hume pipes, and three bridges were built and put into operation in various districts of the province.
