800 armed police personnel deployed at Pashupatinath for Teej

KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) has deployed 800 security personnel to manage security at the Pashupatinath Temple area during the Haritalika Teej festival. According to the APF headquarters, personnel have been on duty since 2 a.m. on Sunday to oversee pilgrim management, general security, and the coordination of health and water services.

A medical team, including female doctors and an ambulance from the APF Hospital in Balambu, has been stationed within the temple premises. Additionally, a team equipped with water tankers has been deployed to ensure adequate water supply for devotees. APF co-spokesperson Shailendra Thapa confirmed that a rescue team, including divers, is on standby near the Ram Mandir along the banks of the Bagmati River.

To monitor for any untoward incidents during the festival, security personnel in plain clothes have been deployed throughout the temple complex and surrounding areas. Patrolling has been intensified in key locations including Tilganga, Jaya Bageshwori, Guhyeshwori, Bishwarupa, and Gauri Ghat. The APF has also established a command post within the temple premises to coordinate operations. Separately, the Nepal Police has deployed 2,500 officers to ensure security for the festival.
