KATHMANDU: Nepal maintained its winning momentum in the ACC Premier Cup ODI tournament, securing a comfortable six-wicket victory over host nation Malaysia on Thursday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Malaysia struggled against Nepal’s disciplined bowling attack and was bundled out for 103 runs in 32.3 overs at the UKM-YSD Oval in Bangi.
Karan KC spearheaded the attack with an impressive spell of 4 for 23 in 7.3 overs. Spinner Lalit Rajbanshi chipped in with two wickets, while skipper Sandeep Lamichhane, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Hemant Dhami claimed a wicket apiece to restrict the hosts.
Chasing a modest target of 104, Nepal completed the task in the 22nd over, losing four wickets along the way.
Opener Arjun Kumal top-scored for Nepal with 45 runs, guiding the team steadily toward the win.
This marks Nepal’s second consecutive victory in the group stage, following their opening-match win against Bahrain.
Nepal is placed in Group A alongside Malaysia, Bahrain, Hong Kong, and Saudi Arabia as they aim for a spot in the semi-finals.
