KATHMANDU: Major political parties have expressed profound grief over the widespread human and physical casualties caused by unexpected floods across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, and Nawalparasi river basins.
During a joint all-party meeting, leaders signed a 10-point resolution pledging to transcend political differences and prioritize national unity, citizen rescue, and disaster management.
The joint declaration—signed by top leaders including RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa, NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, Shram Sanskriti Party’s Dhruba Rai, RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden, JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav, and Janamat Party General Secretary Chandan Singh—emphasizes a non-partisan approach to relief and a single-door policy for financial contributions.
The parties committed to establishing joint scientific mechanisms with China for trans-Himalayan glacial lake monitoring, strengthening early warning systems, ensuring zero tolerance for black marketeering during relief efforts, and advocating for climate justice on international platforms.
Furthermore, the meeting commended the tireless deployment of security forces, healthcare workers, and volunteers, while agreeing to form a high-level parliamentary mechanism to oversee sustainable reconstruction and risk mitigation.
