KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Dr. Amresh Kumar Singh has described the ongoing unrest in Madhesh as a complex geopolitical issue, claiming it is being orchestrated by external forces rather than arising solely from local political or social grievances.

Speaking after meeting Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Friday, Singh alleged that the region is being increasingly militarised through the heavy deployment of security forces. He argued that the current security approach is inappropriate and warned that the situation in parts of Madhesh is beginning to resemble a conflict zone.

Singh also claimed that people from outside the region had been mobilised to incite communal unrest in different districts, alleging that the violence was planned rather than spontaneous. These allegations reflect Singh’s statements and have not been independently verified.
