KATHMANDU: Annapurna Spiker Kings have won the title of the inaugural edition of the Nepal Volleyball League (NVL).

Annapurna crowned themselves champions by defeating Karnali Shivraj in straight sets in the final match held on Saturday at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall in Tripureshwar, Kathmandu.

Annapurna lifted the trophy after sweeping Karnali 25–15, 25–20, and 25–18.

Having lost 3–1 in sets to Karnali in their first league-stage match, Annapurna exacted their revenge in the final.

Along with the title victory, Annapurna bagged a cash prize of Rs 2 million.

The second set of the match witnessed some tense moments. Trailing 2–5, Karnali’s captain and marquee player Pahal Gahatraj expressed dissatisfaction over a refereeing decision, halting play for nearly 20 minutes.

During the disruption, spectators threw bottles onto the court, and Karnali players refused to play. After entering into a dispute over the referee’s decision, captain Gahatraj and foreign player Alireza Abaluch were issued yellow cards.

Once the match resumed, Annapurna maintained their momentum to comfortably seal the victory over Karnali.
