KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal has deployed a Border Interaction Team (BIT) at the Gauriphanta border crossing in Kailali-Kanchanpur to strengthen security along the Nepal-India border while improving coordination with local communities.

The initiative was formally launched on Sunday by Deputy Inspector General Digvijaya Subedi, chief of APF No. 7 Baidyanath Brigade Headquarters, during a program held at Dokebazar, Punarbas Municipality-11, Kanchanpur.

According to the APF, the deployment is part of a broader plan introduced by Inspector General Narayan Dutta Poudel to make border security more effective through closer engagement with border communities.

DIG Subedi said the Border Interaction Team aims to strike a balance between maintaining strict border security and ensuring smooth cross-border movement, while enhancing direct coordination and communication with local residents. The initiative is expected to improve information sharing and strengthen cooperation in addressing security challenges along the border.
