KATHMANDU: Netra Prasad Bhusal, a youth from Arghakhanchi, has achieved significant financial success by leveraging social media platforms. A resident of Sandhikharka Municipality-2, Bhusal claims to have earned approximately Rs 70 million by utilizing YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok as his professional base.
Following the death of his father during his teenage years, Bhusal took on the responsibility of supporting his family and turned to the internet for opportunities. Starting his digital journey with a YouTube channel after his secondary education, he has built a substantial following, including nearly 2 million followers on TikTok and over 250,000 on Facebook. He spends four hours daily hosting TikTok live sessions, where digital gifts from viewers serve as his primary source of income.
Bhusal reports a monthly income ranging from Rs 500,000 to Rs 600,000. These earnings have allowed him to build a house in Sandhikharka and purchase a vehicle. Recently, he also acquired a house in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, for approximately Rs 40 million.
Beyond personal financial gain, Bhusal has utilized his earnings for philanthropic efforts. He recently provided relief materials worth Rs 1.3 million to families affected by floods in the Bhotekoshi region. In addition to his online presence, he has appeared in several music videos. Bhusal emphasizes that social media can be a powerful tool for skill development and income generation if used creatively and professionally, rather than simply as a way to pass time.
