KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force has safely rescued 12 people trapped in the Banganga River at Barmeli, Kapilvastu Municipality-6, on Saturday night.
A team deployed from the Armed Police Force, Nepal No. 28 Battalion Headquarters in Kapilvastu, rescued 11 women and one man who were stranded by the sudden flood.
Armed Police Superintendent Gopal Adhikari stated that the rescue team was mobilized immediately after receiving reports that people were trapped due to rising water levels. He said, ‘People who were trapped in the river after the water flow increased were immediately rescued and brought to a safe place. The Armed Police Force team was actively mobilized in the rescue operation.’
The individuals rescued are Gopi Pariyar, 70, Kirali Pariyar, 70, Kavita Kumal, 24, Rami Wayambu, 38, Meena Wayambu, 32, Belmati Sunar, 45, Sushma GC, 18, Lalumaya Shrestha, 34, Laxmi Pariyar, 40, Bina BK, 24, Binda Thapa, 24, and Resham Pariyar, 37. All of those rescued are residents of Kapilvastu Municipality-6.
