Army chief Sigdel pays tribute to Gurkhas at London memorial

LONDON: Chief of the Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel paid tribute to the historic service and sacrifice of Gurkha soldiers by laying a wreath at the Gurkha Memorial on Horse Guards Avenue in London during his official visit to the United Kingdom.

Sigdel is visiting the United Kingdom at the invitation of General Sir Roly Walker, chief of the General Staff of the British Army.

The wreath-laying ceremony honored the bravery and service of Gurkha soldiers and highlighted the longstanding ties between the Nepali Army and British Army.

The ceremony also reaffirmed the enduring relationship between Nepal and the United Kingdom, particularly the longstanding defense partnership built around the service of Gurkha soldiers.

Sigdel’s visit comes as the two countries continue to maintain close military ties, with the Gurkha tradition remaining an important part of the relationship between the Nepali Army and British Army.
