KATHMANDU: Mr. Pitambar Aryal has completed his PhD in Socio-Economic Impact of Disaster (Sociology of Disaster) from Dr. K.N. Modi University, Newai, Rajasthan, India on 7th September 2026.
Dr. Aryal holds master’s degrees in Public Health from Europe, Sociology from India, and Health Education from Nepal. He brings more than three decades of professional experience in public health, disaster risk reduction, emergency management, and crisis response.
Throughout his career, he has worked with leading international organizations, including the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Danish Red Cross, and the Canadian Red Cross, serving in various technical and managerial capacities for more than a decade.
A significant part of his professional career has been dedicated to the Nepal Red Cross Society, where he held leadership positions in the Health Services Department, Disaster Management Department, and Youth Red Cross Development. He also served as Secretary General of the Nepal Red Cross Society.
His professional expertise and contributions have focused particularly on public health, disaster risk reduction and management, emergency response and recovery, and community development.
In addition to his professional engagements, Dr. Aryal currently serves as Senior Advisor to Nepal Unites and Advisor to DPNet Nepal. He is also a life member of the JICA Alumni Association of Nepal (JAAN) and the Press Association of Nepal (PAN).
