KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank has instructed banks and financial institutions to make arrangements for dispensing 100 rupee notes through their ATM machines.
The central bank’s Currency Management Department issued a letter to the Nepal Bankers Association regarding this new provision.
Currently, banks typically provide 1,000 and 500 rupee notes through their automated teller machines. With this directive, customers will soon be able to withdraw 100 rupee notes as well.
The central bank stated that this measure is intended to address the upcoming Dashain festival. By facilitating the availability of smaller denomination notes through ATMs, the bank expects a significant reduction in the number of customers visiting bank branches specifically to exchange currency for the festival.
