KATHMANDU: The under-construction overhead bridge in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, is set to open for public use within this week. The Road Division Office, Kathmandu, stated that the final phase of construction is underway and the facility will be accessible to pedestrians shortly.
The bridge was designed to manage traffic congestion and the high volume of pedestrians in the area. Officials expect that the new structure will provide a safer crossing for pedestrians and help reduce road accidents.
Construction of the project began following an agreement signed on Feb. 21, 2026. The contract for the project was awarded to Hetauda-based Hitech Engineering Works Pvt. Ltd. According to the Road Division Office, the total cost for the bridge construction is Rs 25.24 million.
