HETAUDA: Bagmati Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence from the Provincial Assembly at 4 pm today (Tuesday).

The meeting was postponed three times on Monday after it failed to take place as scheduled. It has now been rescheduled for 4 pm on Tuesday.

According to a notice issued by Provincial Assembly Secretary Ram Kumar Poudel, the Speaker changed the meeting time in accordance with Sub-rule (3) of Rule 6 of the Provincial Assembly Rules, 2074 BS.

Chief Minister Thapa Magar is seeking the vote of confidence in line with the constitutional provisions. However, the Nepali Congress has raised questions over his appointment, while differences have also surfaced within the ruling coalition over the allocation of ministries, selection of ministers and power-sharing arrangements.

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and the Nepali Congress have issued whips directing their lawmakers not to support the chief minister. Some lawmakers from the ruling coalition are also reportedly dissatisfied, raising uncertainty over whether Thapa Magar will secure the required support.

At the 4 pm meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Thapa Magar will table a motion seeking a vote of confidence, which will then be put to a vote in the Provincial Assembly.
