HETAUDA: A meeting of the Bagmati Province Assembly meeting is taking place today, with Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar set to seek a vote of confidence.
The meeting will begin at 1 pm, according to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat. Chief Minister Thapa is expected to table a motion seeking a vote of confidence during the meeting.
Thapa was appointed Chief Minister by Bagmati Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota on August 20 after staking a claim with the support of the CPN-UML, Nepali Communist Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
The RPP, however, is facing an internal dispute over its support for Thapa’s appointment. Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress has issued a whip directing its Provincial Assembly members to vote against the confidence motion.
