KATHMANDU: The Bagmati provincial government has decided to cut 144 staff positions following a review of its organizational structure.
The decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting on Thursday, which approved a new organization and management survey for various ministries and subordinate offices.
Prior to this adjustment, the provincial government had 4,814 authorized staff positions. With the implementation of the new structure, the total number of approved positions has been reduced to 4,680.
According to provincial government spokesperson and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Bharat Bahadur KC, the total number of offices across the province has been set at 180.
Despite the overall reduction, the cabinet has approved the addition of temporary staff in specific areas based on necessity.
To manage problematic cooperatives, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law has been granted approval for 24 temporary positions. Minister KC stated that these positions will be automatically dissolved once the assigned tasks are completed.
Additionally, the government has cleared the way for the recruitment of 90 temporary staff members within the sanitation divisions under the Ministry of Water Supply, Energy and Irrigation.
