MYAGDI: For the fourth consecutive year, Beni Municipality has successfully maintained a zero count of home maternity cases.
Since the fiscal year 2021/22, there have been no nursing homes in Beni Municipality. The municipality prioritizes safe maternity services, recognizing that home births can pose significant risks to both the mother and child, as well as lead to various health complications.
Mayor Surat KC stated that efforts to mitigate childbirth risks and enhance the health of mothers and children have resulted in maintaining a zero home delivery rate for four years.
“In the past three years, 100 percent of pregnant women residing in Beni Municipality have accessed maternity services from qualified health professionals,” he remarked, “We are actively continuing our awareness initiatives to ensure that home deliveries remain at zero.
Public Health Officer Dipesh Poudel reported that in the fiscal year 2025/26, 344 individuals utilized safe maternity services in Beni Municipality.
The figures for previous years include 847 in FY 2021/22, 677 in FY 2079/80, 392 in FY 2023/24, and 437 in FY 2024/25 who availed themselves of safe maternity services.
In Beni Municipality, which comprises ten wards, safe maternity services are accessible at the health posts of Province Hospital Beni, Jamrukkot, Bhakimli, Singa, Pulachaur, and Patlekhet.
