Besisahar-Chame road resumes operation after six days

A A+ A-

MANANG: The Besisahar-Chame road, which was obstructed following heavy rainfall, has resumed operations. The road was reopened within six days with the support of the Manang Marsyangdi Hydropower Company, which provided the necessary equipment, manpower, fuel, and other resources.

Heavy rains in October caused landslides and road erosion at various points along the route. Pratikman Singh Pradhan, coordinator at Butwal Power Company, stated that the company immediately mobilized resources to repair the damaged sections after the disaster. “We were able to reopen the approximately 60-kilometer Besisahar-Chame road in six days by coordinating with other hydropower projects and local road authorities,” Pradhan said.

A flood near Chame had blocked the main river flow, creating a temporary lake. The company collaborated with the government, deploying excavators and providing diesel and materials for disaster management and rescue efforts. The company noted that it has consistently provided equipment and personnel for the maintenance and emergency restoration of the road section. With the road now operational, approximately 5,600 residents across 13 villages in Manang have benefited from the restored transport services.
