CHITWAN: Bharatpur Metropolitan City has issued seven-day show-cause notices to 26 construction companies, firms, and contractors for failing to complete projects as per their agreements.
The metropolitan office released a public notice on Tuesday, warning of potential legal action against firms that have neglected their duties and failed to make concrete efforts to meet deadlines.
According to the metropolitan authorities, numerous development projects remain stalled because the contractors have ignored repeated written and verbal requests to expedite work.
The local government stated that it is initiating disciplinary procedures in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, 2063, and the Public Procurement Regulations, 2064.
If the firms fail to provide a satisfactory explanation or accelerate construction progress within the seven-day period, the metropolitan city will proceed with strict contractual penalties.
These measures include terminating contracts, forfeiting performance bonds, recommending the companies for blacklisting, and recovering damages. Furthermore, the authorities noted that the value of the remaining work will be assessed and recovered from the contractors as government dues.
