KATHMANDU: The death toll from the devastating Bhote Koshi flood has risen to 1,367, with around 5,132 individuals still reported missing across multiple districts, according to an update released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction & Management Authority (NDRRMA) as of 11:00 AM on September 9.
According to official figures, Chitwan has reported the highest body recovery count at 363, followed by Nawalparasi East (226), Nawalparasi West (222), Nuwakot (197), and Rasuwa (174).
Fatalities have also been reported in Gorkha (75), Dhading (70), and Tanahun (38), alongside two individuals who succumbed while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.
Authorities confirmed that 102 bodies have been handed over to families so far following verification.
Among the missing persons are 2,860 from Rasuwa—including locals, citizens from other districts, security personnel, government workers, and bank staff—as well as 1,787 missing from Nuwakot and around 587 foreign tourists.
Despite the heavy casualties, joint response efforts have led to the successful rescue of 13,646 individuals to date.
Over 21,000 security personnel—comprising the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force (APF)—have been deployed for search, rescue, and security operations.
Aerial operations remain active, with Nepali Army helicopters carrying out 21 flights today alone, adding to more than 1,500 total flights conducted by the Army and APF throughout the mission.
To support displaced survivors, 3,628 people are currently taking shelter across 37 holding centers in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, and Dhading.
Thousands of injured individuals are receiving medical treatment at military, APF, and local civil hospitals.
Additionally, over 150 health personnel have been mobilized by the Ministry of Health to provide medical assistance and psychosocial counseling.
The Government of Nepal has announced immediate financial relief, allocating Rs 10 million each to Rasuwa and Nuwakot, Rs 5 million to Dhading, and Rs 135 million across 15 affected local governments.
Essential food, non-food materials, and fuel supplies—including diesel, petrol, aviation fuel, and LP gas—are being continuously dispatched via road and air routes into the hit zones.
