KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have confirmed that the official death toll from the devastating Bhote Koshi river flood has risen to 1,341, while 4,044 people remain missing.
According to the latest official update released by the Nepal Police Headquarters as of 7:40 AM today, search and rescue operations are ongoing across the affected river basin.
A total of 7,912 police personnel have been deployed to the affected regions, where 65 officers have also been directly impacted by the disaster.
Among the missing, 3,438 are Nepali nationals (2,863 men and 575 women), while 650 are foreign nationals (269 men, 332 women, and 5 others).
Authorities have recovered 1,341 bodies so far, comprising 523 men, 325 women, and 493 partial human remains.
Official records confirm that 1,037 bodies have been buried, 98 bodies have been handed over to relatives, and 1,297 bodies currently remain unidentified.
Medical teams have collected 2,472 DNA samples—including 1,286 from victims and 1,186 from relatives—to assist in the identification process.
Meanwhile, rescue personnel have successfully rescued 9,151 injured individuals, including 6,319 men, 2,778 women, and 54 whose details have not yet been specified.
A total of 3,098 individuals are currently staying in temporary holding centers.
Additionally, security forces have conducted 117 public awareness programs involving 42,361 participants in the surrounding communities.
