KATHMANDU: A total of 1,386 bodies have been recovered across multiple districts as of 8:00 AM on Sunday following the catastrophic flooding along the Bhote Koshi River.
The recovered bodies include 364 from Chitwan, 230 from Nawalparasi East, 222 from Nawalparasi West, 199 from Nuwakot, 185 from Rasuwa, 77 from Gorkha, 71 from Dhading, and 38 from Tanahun.
Following standard identification procedures—including DNA sampling—1,230 bodies have been safely buried under soil so far.
Authorities have collected 3,132 total DNA samples, comprising 1,286 from the deceased and 1,846 from relatives seeking missing loved ones.
Additionally, details of 1,354 unidentified victims have been published on the official Nepal Police website.
A total of 7,975 police personnel remain deployed in flood-affected regions for rescue operations, search efforts, relief distribution, and body management.
Search operations continue for the 4,089 individuals who remain missing, while 2,712 displaced persons are currently housed in holding centers across affected districts.
