KATHMANDU: The death toll from the devastating Bhote-Koshi flood reached 1,252 as of Thursday morning.
Bodies have been recovered across multiple districts, including 355 in Chitwan, 218 in Nawalparasi East, 190 in Nawalparasi West, 177 in Nuwakot, 127 in Rasuwa, 69 in Gorkha, 60 in Dhading, and 38 in Tanahun.
An additional 18 bodies were recovered in India and handed over to Nepal.
So far, authorities have handed over 95 identified bodies to relatives.
Following DNA sampling, officials have safely buried 897 unidentified bodies underground.
Details regarding 959 unidentified victims have been published on the official Nepal Police website to assist families in identification.
A force of 7,912 police officers remains deployed across the affected regions. They are actively conducting rescue operations, clearing highway blockages, and distributing relief.
Search efforts remain underway for 4,875 individuals who are still missing.
Meanwhile, 3,126 displaced citizens are currently receiving shelter at regional holding centers as emergency teams continue to evacuate families from high-risk zones.
