KATHMANDU: India’s Ministry of External Affairs has updated its status on Indian nationals impacted by the devastating floods in Nepal, confirming that 84 individuals have been rescued while 320 remain missing or unreachable.
According to an official statement issued late August 28, the rescued group includes 21 residents of Tamil Nadu who have returned to India, along with 63 workers stationed at the Trishuli-I hydroelectric project site.
Additionally, 149 Indian citizens safely crossed into Nepal from China, while around 400 others remain safe on the Chinese side of the border.
The Indian Embassy confirmed it is in direct contact with those stranded in China and is coordinating their evacuation.
Efforts are ongoing to locate and establish contact with the 320 Indian nationals who are currently unaccounted for following the floods.
