KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperative, Federal Affairs and General Administration has formed a committee to find appropriate land for the safe rehabilitation and temporary accommodation of the people affected and displaced by the Bhotekoshi flood.
The team was formed under coordination of Director-General of the Survey Department, Prakash Joshi, the Ministry shared.
Representatives of Federal Affairs Division, Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Director of Department of Land Management and Archive, Assistant Chief District Officers of concerned districts, Chief Administrative Officers, District Coordination Officers of concerned districts, representatives of District Police Office or Armed Police Force Nepal, Chief of Land Administration Office, and Chief of Survey Office are the members in the Committee.
Under-Secretary Damodar Wagle has been designated the member-secretary of the Committee.
According to the Ministry, the Committee has been mandated to find out the real situation of the families displaced by flood, and also those residing in affected and vulnerable areas.
Similarly, the Committee is assigned to submit a report, with recommendations including necessary legal process for selection of land, identification to rehabilitation of flood-affected families, feasibility study, preliminary disaster risk assessment and temporary accommodation to the flood-hit families, to the Ministry.
