KASKI: Three of the dead bodies retrieved following the devastating Bhotekoshi flood and brought to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences, have been identified.
The body of Yadav Bhandari, 37, an immigration officer at Timure of Rasuwa, 37, from Susta Rural Municipality-1, was identified by his elder brother Chudamani Bhandari, said Kaski’s assistant chief district officer Chitrangat Baral.
Similarly, a body that was retrieved from Devchuli area of Nawalparasi has been identified that of Narayan Thapa, 47, from Panini Rural Municipality-7 in Arghakhanchi. He was a teacher at Neelkantha Secondary School in Betrawati, Rasuwa. The body was identified by his spouse Kamala Thapa.
Likewise, a body that was retrieved from Dhading has been identified that of Satya Sundar Prajapati, 36, from Bhaktapur Municipality-9. It was ascertained by his younger brother Satya Krishna Prajapati, and was handed over to the family.
A total of 102 bodies retrieved from the Trishuli and Narayani River banks in Dhadhing, Gorkha, Tanahu and Nawalparasi following the Bhotekoshi flash flood were brought to the PAHS for post-mortem examinations.
As of Friday evening, fingerprinting and cleanliness procedures have been completed for 57 bodies, while the post-mortem examinations were underway, said assistant CDO Baral.
The process of identifying the remaining bodies is underway. Relatives of the missing people who have arrived here in search of their loved ones have been provided with free food and accommodation.
