KATHMANDU: The death toll from the flooding of the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa and the resulting destruction across several districts has reached 1,003, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). Around 3,916 people are still reported missing.
According to the authority’s search, rescue and relief update released as of 1 p.m., a large number of bodies and human remains have been recovered from various districts.
Of the recovered bodies, 41 were found in Rasuwa, 95 in Nuwakot, 57 in Dhading, 65 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 216 in Nawalparasi East, 170 in Nawalparasi West, and 321 in Chitwan. The authority also reported that human remains were recovered from several locations, including Chitwan.
So far, 279 people have been injured in floods and other disaster-related incidents. 168 injured people have already been discharged from various hospitals.
According to NDRRMA, a total of 11,884 people have been rescued so far. The Nepal Army said it has rescued 3,509 Nepali citizens and 273 foreign nationals by air alone.
