Bodies of 24 Victims Recovered from Trishuli-1 Tunnel Remain Unidentified

KATHMANDU: Authorities have recovered 24 bodies from the tunnel of the 216-megawatt Trishuli-1 hydropower project in Rasuwa following flooding in the Bhote Koshi river.

The bodies were retrieved from the site in Haku, Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality-1, on Sept. 17 and 18, according to the Nuwakot District Police Office.

Nuwakot police spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Iqbal Hawari stated that the bodies were transported to the Central Jail office premises in Bidur Municipality-6, Nuwakot, via a Nepal Army helicopter on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The District Police Office has requested that family members and relatives of those missing since the floods visit the site to identify the victims. DSP Hawari stated that police are working to assist families in the identification process.
