KATHMANDU: The body of Nepali mountaineer Yukta Gurung, who died during a mountaineering expedition, was brought back to Nepal on Thursday.
Gurung’s remains arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport aboard a Qatar Airways flight, where grieving family members and relatives gathered to receive the body. The atmosphere at the airport was marked by deep sorrow as loved ones paid their respects.
Following the arrival, Gurung’s body was handed over to the family for final rites and last tributes.
According to senior Nepali mountaineer Mingma David Sherpa, the repatriation process was completed through coordination among the Government of Nepal, the Department of Tourism, and the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).
